There is a saying “to thine own self be true.” I disagree instead “to the call of God be true.”

Whatever call (gift) God has given you is to be used for His work and glory. What others think of you isn’t important. Fulfillment of your call is all that matters.

When we walk away from our call we become miserable humans. We find ourselves constantly searching for validation in the wrong places by the wrong people.

This is the greatest unhappiness of all – seeking fulfillment and love from those who have no way of filling up the empty hole in our lives. The hole was created when we pushed out the call of God for the favor and validation of man.
